Dictatorship has plagued the Southeast Asian nation of Burma, which is also known as Myanmar, for decades. The coup led to widespread protests and a brutal crackdown by the military, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of civilians. The tragedy of dictators in Burma/Myanmar is a stark reminder of the human rights abuses and suffering inflicted by authoritarian regimes.
