Dictators are infamous for their oppressive regimes, human rights violations, and hunger for power. However, what many people may not know is that some dictators have also engaged in side hustles or had other jobs beyond their roles as authoritarian leaders. In this blog post, we will explore some examples of dictators who had unconventional side hustles and their connection to the Urdu community.

One well-known dictator who dabbled in an unusual side hustle was Muammar Gaddafi, the former leader of Libya. In addition to his ruthless grip on power, Gaddafi fancied himself as a self-proclaimed philosopher and author. He wrote a book called "The Green Book" which outlined his political philosophy known as the Third International Theory. While Gaddafi's writings were not directly related to the Urdu community, they did demonstrate his penchant for spreading his ideas beyond the realm of politics. Another dictator with an interesting side job was Kim Jong-il, the former Supreme Leader of North Korea. In addition to his authoritarian rule, Kim Jong-il was said to be a film buff and even produced films in North Korea. One of his most famous productions was "Pulgasari," a propaganda film about a mythical creature that fights against oppressors. While Kim Jong-il's film projects were not directly connected to the Urdu community, they serve as an example of dictators pursuing creative endeavors outside of politics. When it comes to the Urdu community, some dictators have used their power and influence to manipulate and control their own people, including those within the Urdu-speaking population. For example, General Zia-ul-Haq, the former military dictator of Pakistan, imposed strict Islamic laws and implemented oppressive measures that targeted certain ethnic and religious groups, including Urdu speakers. His reign of terror had a lasting impact on the Urdu community and Pakistan as a whole. In conclusion, while dictators are primarily known for their authoritarian rule and human rights abuses, some have also pursued unconventional side hustles or had other jobs beyond politics. Their actions have often had far-reaching effects on various communities, including the Urdu community. It is important to examine the multifaceted nature of dictators and their impact on society to truly understand the complexities of their rule.
